The four elements of life
In astrology, the moon represents our emotions, intuition and connection with nature. It is often seen as a symbol of the feminine and womanhood. The moon is associated with four elements of astrology that exist both in nature and innately, within us all. These elements correspond to the 12 zodiac signs. The four elements are: fire, earth, air and water. Each element has distinct qualities and knowing more about each can help you personalise and develop your self-care, productivity and connections.
Fire
The fire element is creative and dynamic. It’s our inspiration that shows up with enthusiasm and energy. Fire zodiac signs are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius and they are categorised as a masculine “yang energy". They are known to be passionate, driven and take action. Fire can show up as an idea in your head and is complemented by air, which can make the idea come to life.
Earth
In astrology, the earth signs are Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. Earth signs are categorised as feminine signs (or “yin energy”) of the zodiac. They tend to be rooted and grounded in their approach to life. Slowing things down and enjoying the pleasures of life is paramount. Earth moon signs are known to be practical, loyal and consistent in their beliefs and ways of being.
Air
The air element is also categorised as masculine, just like the fire element. Air signs include Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. They are the adventurous, curious and communicators of the zodiac. Since air signs are intellectually driven and deeply connected to the mind, they seek meaningful exchanges to challenge and stimulate them. Air people love to socialise and relationships are incredibly important to them.
Water
The water element represents flow and feeling. Seen as feminine energy, the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) can be sensitive and deeply intuitive, but they allow this to show and embrace it. They seek deep connections and express emotions through empathy, compassion and nurturing. Water signs tend to gravitate towards earth signs – after all water is what nurtures the earth and feeds it with new life.
